Orbit sculpture photo
Orbit polished and painted steel, 1997.

This piece stands over 8' tall, and consists of a sphere, constructed as the envelope of parallel planes, lying on its orbit, which only partly intersects the space of the room. The orbit is described by a circular arc of steel, which appears to support the sphere. Despite its huge mass, the sphere hangs in the air and rocks gently above the pentagonal base.
